CONDITIONS OF PLAY FOR OPEN COMPETITIONS AT COLVEND GOLF CLUB
All participating golfers must be bona fide amateur members of a recognised golf club and hold a current CONGU Handicap.
All Open competitions will be played over 18 holes, off white tees (Gents) or red tees (Ladies).
Maximum handicap allowances will be 28 for Gentlemen and 36 for Ladies, unless stated otherwise on the individual competition notice.
Some Buggies are available to hire (£20 per round), subject to course conditions. Advance booking is recommended.
Catering is normally available throughout day during Open competitions.
Distance measuring devices may be used provided the instrument measures distance ONLY.
Tied scores will be decided by countback over last 9, 6, 3 or 1 hole.
Texas Scrambles - Teams of 4, any combination. Max individual Handicaps - Gents, 21 Ladies 28. Team handicap by Double Silloth. In addition, each player will count four drives, one of which must be at a par 3 hole. Once a player has recorded a par 3 drive, they should not tee off at subsequent par 3s.
Juniors must be under 18 years of age on the day of the competition. Proof of age (ID) may be required. Juniors may enter adult competitions provided they have a certified handicap of 14 or lower.
Handicaps for competitions will be calculated as follows:
Greensomes and Double Greensomes - full individual allowance, then sum of 6/10 lower and 4/10 higher
4BBB (Gents) - Silloth system (full individual handicaps, take the difference, subtract it from18, divide by 3, round to nearest whole number, subtract that from lower handicap = Silloth handicap)
4BBB (Ladies) - as for Greensomes above
Texas Scramble - Double Silloth. Apply Silloth (see 4BBB(Gents) above) to the two lowest handicaps, resulting in Figure A, then repeat for the two highest handicaps, resulting in Figure B. Apply Silloth to Figures A and B for final team handicap. No additional allowance for Ladies.
For mixed strokeplay competitions (ie Ladies and Gents competing directly against one another, but not in Mixed Pairs events), Ladies will be awarded an additional two strokes when setting their competition handicap, to allow for the difference between the Gents and Ladies Standard Scratch Scores. For Stableford events, only one additional stroke will be awarded. In such competitions, the Ladies Stroke Index will apply to all competitors in Stableford events. These arrangements are in line with the UHS recommendations.
Prizes for competitions will normally be awarded in the form of Vouchers. The number and value of prizes will depend on level of entries and will be calculated on the day, unless stated otherwise.
Scratch prizes will only be awarded when specifically stated on the individual competition notice.
Magic 2 sweep will be held when appropriate to the competition. Magic 2 winnings will be held at the club (contact the Steward) to await collection. Where possible, these cash winnings will be forwarded to the winner's club by hand, but this cannot be guaranteed.
We expect and encourage prizewinners to attend the prizegiving, normally held immediately on completion of the event. In the event of a prizewinner not attending the presentation, their vouchers will be forwarded to their club secretary in due course.
Entry fees for 2017 are:
Singles - £10, Pairs - £18, Teams (4) - £36, unless stated otherwise.
All entry fees include entry to Magic 2s cash sweep when appropriate to competition.
